A few years ago our friends Kim and Stephanie with Rain Lily commissioned me to paint a rain barrel for an art auction. With the start of summer comes the idea of saving every rain drop… so I thought it would be fun to share this.
It looks like maybe Annie isn't keeping up this blog any longer, but I just attended a rain barrel workshop yesterday, and they suggest using primer on the barrel, and then an exterior paint, such as housepaint (or latex or acrylic paint). And for the decorative work, they suggested simple craft paint.

Annie, really would like to know what type paints you used and whether you sealed them. Your barrel is delightful.
Thanks, Rosie, Sugar Hill, GA
